Prize awarded for cross-border cooperation
The winners of the competition "Cross-border cooperation between SMEs in the fields of research, development and qualification" were honoured today in Chemnitz. The prize honours cooperation between East German and Polish or East German and Czech companies and research institutions. It is part of a conference of the same name, which was jointly organised by the ICM - Institut Chemnitzer Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. and the Fraunhofer Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (MOEZ). The four winning projects will each receive 5,000 euros from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig also took part in the event, which was held in Hall 2 of the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre: "The enormous innovative strength of research-intensive small and medium-sized enterprises is well known in Chemnitz - after all, they have been making a significant contribution to the city's development for years. At the same time, there is a lot of untapped potential, such as the proximity to Poland and the Czech Republic. The naturalness with which companies and scientific institutions cooperate with each other, for example in Chemnitz, must also become a matter of course across borders," says Barbara Ludwig.
The conference, during which the award ceremony took place, offered companies and public institutions the opportunity to familiarise themselves with cross-border cooperation. Participants were able to discuss cross-border activities with scientists and practitioners.
The event was organised on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and is the responsibility of the Federal Government Commissioner for the New Federal States.
