Monday, 29 October
The 7th Youth Sports Week in Chemnitz will take place from 29 October to 2 November 2012 in the sports facilities of the participating clubs. The organiser is the Sportjugend im Stadtsportbund Chemnitz. Programme and information: www.sportbund-chemnitz.de

Tuesday, 30 October
Mayor Barbara Ludwig invites you to her weekly press conference.

The 2nd Chemnitz Theatre Night officially opens the 2012/2013 season at Chemnitz Municipal Theatres.

Opening of the "Visible Music" exhibition on show until 2 December 2012. Project partners are the DOCK association and the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with NSG and Weltecho Chemnitz.

Wednesday, 31 October
Public holiday - Reformation Day

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Figural Carillon established in Chemnitz Old Town Hall, the people of Chemnitz and their guests will have the opportunity to visit "the heart" of the carillon in the machine room (PM 646 from 24 October 2012).
Time and place: 3.30 pm, meeting point at the Judith Lucretia portal at the Old Town Hall.

Thursday, 1 November
Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the meeting of the State Board of Directors and the State Board of Trustees of the East German Savings Banks Foundation.
Time and place: 1 p.m., Leipzig.

Friday, 2 November
Laying of 16 Stumbling Stones in Chemnitz in memory of victims of the Nazi regime: starting at Hoffmannstraße 52, where the Goeritz family of entrepreneurs with an interest in art once lived. The stones will be laid by Günter Demnig, artist and initiator of the campaign. Ingrid Mössinger, General Director of the Chemnitz Art Collections, will give a welcoming address; she and her staff have taken on the sponsorship of three of the Goeritz family's Stolpersteine. Stolpersteine will be laid at eight other locations on this day (PM 647 from 24 October 2012).

Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the meeting of the Joint Committee of the Metropolitan Region.
Time and place: 12.30 p.m., Leipzig.

Mayor Petra Wesseler invites you to the 1st Stakeholder Conference "Street Space Design Centre Ring". The event will be moderated by Dr Hartmut Topp, a transport expert who has already accompanied similar processes throughout Germany. (PM 641 from 23.10.2012).

Traditional swimming festival of Saxon swimming clubs for the Sachsenverlag telephone directory cup. This year's organiser is once again the Schwimm-Club Chemnitz von 1892 e. V. - Information: www.schwimmclub-chemnitz.de

The 20th anniversary of the association Die Freunde der Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz is celebrated with a ball of the arts.
Time and place: 6 pm, Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz and Chemnitzer Hof.
