The Historic Rally Erzgebirge 2016 starts today. Mayor Barbara Ludwig has taken over the patronage.

The Chemnitz Cycling Days are taking place. The night criterium "Around the Town Hall" promises special flair. The event is organised by the Chemnitz Cycling Club. Exciting cycling races can be expected today and tomorrow, including world champions and Olympic champions.

The new opera and concert season traditionally opens with an open-air concert by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the direction of the conductor trio Felix Bender, Jakob Brenner and Stefan Politzka, soloists, choir and philharmonic orchestra will perform highlights from the new season's repertoire as well as other popular titles from opera and operetta. General Director Christoph Dittrich will present the programme.
