Preview for the week from 15 to 21 September 2014

Monday, 15 September
Press conference with the mayor and mayors ahead of the Chemnitz City Council meeting on 24 September 2014 (PM 511 from 11/09/2014).
Time and place: 11 a.m., Chemnitz City Hall, Consultation Room 118.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomes the participants of the festive event for the awarding of the Saxon Flood Relief Order to around 250 Chemnitz flood relief workers with a speech. State Secretary Dr Fritz Jäckel, Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture, will represent the Free State of Saxony (PM 512 from 11/09/2014).

Tuesday, 16 September

The European Mobility Week 2014 will take place in Chemnitz with an extensive programme from 16 to 22 September (PM 500 from 08.09.2014).

Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the meeting of the Municipal Advisory Board of Sparkassenversicherung.

Time and place: 1 p.m., CVAG headquarters, Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 186.

At a press conference, Mayor Philipp Rochold and Etelka Kobuß, the city's Commissioner for Foreigners, will provide information on the programme for the 24th Intercultural Weeks, which are being held in Chemnitz from 27 September to 12 October 2014 (PM 506 from 10.09.2014).

Thursday, 18 September

Friday, 19 September

Under the patronage of the Mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig, the 23rd Chemnitz International Boxing Tournament will take place in Chemnitz from 19 to 21 September. Teams from Chemnitz's twin cities Tampere, Lodz, Usti nad Labem, Volgograd and Düsseldorf are also expected to take part in the third largest international boxing tournament in Germany. The tournament is organised by the Chemnitz Boxing Club and the Boxing Association of Saxony.

Time and place: Sports hall at the Schloßteich.

Saturday, 20 September

Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the master craftsman ceremony organised by the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts for the 2014 graduates.

Time and place: 10 a.m., Stadthalle, Great Hall.

The German premiere of "Flashdance - The Musical" by Tom Hedley, Robert Cary and Robbie Roth takes place at the Chemnitz Theatre. Götz Hellriegel is responsible for the staging and choreography, while Tom Bitterlich is the musical director.

Time and place: 19:30, Opera House.
