PRESS INVITATION: Presentation of the theatre concept
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The key points of the theatre concept have been finalised. The variant that General Director Dr Christoph Dittrich and the city, as the theatre's shareholder, intend to present to the city council for a decision in September will ensure the preservation of all five divisions and the status of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra as an A orchestra. The prerequisites for this include the conclusion of amended in-house wage agreements and the implementation of a job model that provides for job reductions without compulsory redundancies. It also proposes a reasonable increase in subsidies from the city over and above the current 25.3 million euros per year.
The concept is necessary as the subsidy will not be sufficient to secure the theatre's operations and ability to operate for the whole of 2014 once the in-house wage agreements expire at the end of the year.
