Press festival: Traffic authorities ask visitors to observe the necessary traffic restrictions near the Küchwald festival meadow
Restrictions apply from Friday, 4 July, 12 noon until Monday, 7 July, 9 a.m. - CVAG offers special line from the central stop to Winklerstraße and back
The annual press festival of the daily newspaper Freie Presse(www.freiepresse.de) will take place on the festival meadow in Küchwaldpark from Friday, 4 July to Sunday, 6 July. The traffic authorities of the City of Chemnitz would like to ask visitors to the events who wish to drive to the festival grounds to pay particular attention to the necessary traffic restrictions in the immediate vicinity of the festival meadow: These traffic restrictions (one-way streets, parking bans, no through traffic) will apply from Friday, 4 July, 12 noon to Monday, 7 July, 9 a.m. (overview map).
The city's traffic authority asks for your understanding for the temporary changes in traffic routing that are necessary due to the festival in order to ensure the access and departure of emergency services (police, rescue services and fire brigade), showmen and traders as well as residents:
Küchwaldring, Küchwaldstraße, Ludwigstraße and Kesselgarten will be designated as one-way streets and closed to through traffic; only residents, taxis and delivery traffic will be allowed to drive through.Winklerstrasse, Dorotheenstrasse, Altendorferstrasse and Glauchauer Strasse will also be closed to private traffic; here, too, only residents, taxis and delivery traffic will be allowed to drive freely.
CVAG special line to the festival site: Visitors to the press festival travelling by car should note in advance that there are no parking facilities in the immediate vicinity of the festival grounds. Therefore, please give priority to parking spaces in the city centre in conjunction with public transport services. CVAG offers a special line from the central stop (platform 5b) to Winklerstraße and back. If you are travelling directly to the festival site by car, you can use the car parks at the Chemnitz Ice Sports Centre (650), Ermafa-Passage (250) and Leipziger Straße/ Küchwaldring near Gottfried-Keller-Straße (60).
Attention - traffic restrictions on Saturday, 5 July also in the city centre:
The traffic authority asks you to note that due to the traditional Chemnitz Marathon being held in Chemnitz city centre on Saturday, further traffic space restrictions are required at the same time. Visitors arriving by car (also) to the press festival should note the closure of Bahnhofstraße between Falkeplatz and Zschopauer Straße on 5 July from 9:45 am to approx. 4 pm - a separate press release will be published on this.
