Press conference with writer Pavel Kohout

Pavel Kohout receives the art prize for German-Czech understanding

The writer and playwright Pavel Kohout will receive the Art Prize for German-Czech Understanding on 22 October 2014. We cordially invite you to a press conference on the day of the award ceremony. Media representatives are cordially invited to Chemnitz City Hall, Grüner Salon (2nd floor) on Tuesday, 21 October 2014 at 4 pm.

Participants are:

  • Barbara Ludwig, Mayor of the City of Chemnitz
  • Pavel Kohout, writer and prizewinner
  • Dr Peter Becher, Adalbert Stifter Association
  • Michael Morgner, Chemnitz artist.

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 22 October 2014 at 6 pm in Chemnitz City Hall, City Council Chamber (see PM 605 from 17 October 2014). What makes it special: The award winners will receive a work of art by a contemporary artist. Pavel Kohout will receive the work "Tension" by Chemnitz artist Michael Morgner at the award ceremony. The prize is awarded jointly by the Adalbert Stifter Verein (Munich), the Brücke/Most-Stiftung (Dresden), the Collegium Bohemicum o.p.s. (Aussig/Ústí nad Labem), the Prague Literature House of German-speaking Authors, the International Art Association pro arte vivendi (Berlin) and the Union for Good Neighbourliness of German- and Czech-speaking Countries (Prague). The City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology are co-organisers of the art prize.
