Presentation of the results of the European "ALT/BAU" network

Project coordinator gives an insight into the exhibition

To mark the Europe Weeks, a bilingual exhibition on the results of the European network "ALT/BAU" will be presented in the exhibition room of Chemnitz Town Hall. To provide a better insight, Martin Neubert from the StadtWohnen Chemnitz agency will guide visitors through the exhibition on 23 May at 4 pm and report on his experiences in the URBACT network.

This will give visitors an insight into the URBACT transfer network "ALT/BAU", which was realised by the City of Chemnitz as lead partner from April 2018 to September 2021. The aim of these city networks is the Europe-wide exchange of expertise and experience as well as the transfer of good practice examples. The practical example in this case was the Chemnitz StadtWohnen Chemnitz agency project, which has been revitalising vacant old buildings on behalf of the city of Chemnitz for twelve years. The city administration took on the role of mentor and the management of the "ALT/BAU" network. This included the Latvian capital Riga, Turin in Italy, Seraing in Belgium, Constanța in Romania, Vilafranca del Penedès in Spain and Rybnik in Poland. The six cities analysed the methods of the StadtWohnen Chemnitz agency, adapted them to their local conditions and finally transferred the model to their city. The project staff from Chemnitz also learnt new and innovative ways of revitalising vacant old buildings.

Opening hours of the exhibition:

Monday to Thursday 8am to 6pm, Friday 8am to 4pm.
