Preparatory construction work on the TIETZ car park
Residential and commercial building to be built from February 2021
The first preparations for the planned construction work on the TIETZ car park begin this week. Before the archaeological excavations, it will be necessary, among other things, to relocate cables.
From Saturday 22 February, trees will be felled along Bahnhofstrasse. All necessary authorisations have been granted; the tree replacement has been commissioned in accordance with the tree protection statutes.
Parking in the TIETZ car park will no longer be possible from 6 a.m. next Monday, 24 February. The no parking signs will be put up this week. This includes the closure of the cycle and footpath connections through the construction site.
The archaeological excavations will begin on 1 March. This is subject to favourable weather conditions. The excavations are expected to continue until the end of the year.
As direct neighbours, the tenants of Moritzstraße as well as the TIETZ facilities and businesses are currently being informed by the mayor of the construction site, Michael Stötzer, and the property developer.
The bus stops on Bahnhofstraße in front of the TIETZ and on Zschopauer Straße (regional transport) will remain in operation. However, there will be restrictions in this area during the construction work at the Zschopauer Straße/Bahnhofstraße junction.
The current taxi ranks in Wiesenstraße can also still be used. In future, they will preferably be located between the MK5 (area directly on Bahnhofsstraße between Zschopauer Straße and TIETZ) and MK6 (area along Wiesenstraße between Zschopauer Straße and TIETZ) construction sites.
The City of Chemnitz will provide information on the further progress of the construction measures in the city centre.
