Preparations begin for the expansion of Markersdorfer Straße
This week, preparations will begin for the expansion of Markersdorfer Straße between Dittersdorfer Straße and Max-Müller-Straße. The City of Chemnitz has commissioned the City of Chemnitz to upgrade the carriageway and add a footpath to ensure safe routes to and from school, the City of Chemnitz's waste disposal company to relocate the sewer and eins energie in sachsen GmbH & Co KG to renew the drinking water pipeline on this 430 metre long section.
To this end, the first of four sections of Markersdorfer Straße between the Dittersdorfer Straße junction and the car park opposite Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church will be completely closed to traffic from Monday, 21 October. The junction with Dittersdorfer Straße and Meinersdorfer Straße will remain open to traffic.
In addition, replacement bus stops will be set up this week and traffic management work will be carried out. From Monday, 21 October 2013, four ash trees and two apple trees will also be felled to create the necessary construction clearance. The felling will be carried out outside the vegetation period. Eight medium-crowned deciduous trees will be planted as replacements. The company Dietmar Mothes GmbH from Chemnitz was commissioned with the felling and construction work. The construction costs amount to approx. 725,000 euros.
Completion of the entire project is planned for the end of September 2014.
