Preparations begin for road renovation on the Brühl
In preparation for the roadworks to upgrade the Brühl between Elisenstraße and Zöllnerstraße, tree felling work will take place in this area in the coming days and will be completed by 28 February. The felling will be carried out by employees of the City of Chemnitz building yard. Once the construction work is complete, new trees (ornamental cherries) will be planted in the same locations.
The actual construction work on the Brühl section is expected to begin in April and should be completed by the end of the year. The section between the junctions has a length of approx. 100 metres and is to be made suitable for mixed traffic. The measure includes the paving at the exit to Zöllnerstraße, the restoration of the fountain operation (on one side), a platform upgrade and opening to Brühl, which enables stepless access to the ground floor and the creation of the traffic organisation for opening as a mixed traffic area.
Some of the fountains will be dismantled and ramps to the entrance areas on the boulevard will be rebuilt, planting areas will be redesigned, the Brühl luminaires will be upgraded to provide the necessary illumination of the traffic area, bollards will be installed, seating elements will be created and additional benches will be erected.
