Premiere for documentary
Information from the LAP Coordination Office: "I had four mothers and three fathers" - reading and discussion on Thursday, 13 September, 5 p.m.
According to information from the Coordination Office of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP), the premiere of the documentary "I had four mothers and three fathers" will take place on Thursday, 13 September: The reading and discussion with Sieglinde Helmsdorf and Margitta Zellmer will take place from 5 pm at QUEER BEET, Rosenplatz 4 in Chemnitz.
Sieglinde Helmsdorf tells her life story: as the daughter of so-called asocial concentration camp prisoners, she spent her childhood and early youth in children's homes and three foster families. Much has been written and reported about resistance fighters and those persecuted by the Nazi regime on racial and/or religious grounds, but those imprisoned and criminalised by the Nazis as "asocial" were for a long time among the "forgotten persecutees" of National Socialism and received no public recognition. The chapter on what happened to the children of concentration camp prisoners, the ordeal they had to go through, what they experienced and learnt and how this influenced and shaped their future lives has also hardly been examined to date. Margitta Zellmer has taken up the topic and written down the life story of Sieglinde Helmsdorf. The project, which runs until 31 December 2012 and is run by the KLINKE e.V. association, is funded by the federal programme "TOLERANCE SUPPORT - STRENGTHENING COMPETENCE".
