Practical training programme for secondary school pupils
Productive learning" is not a simple educational programme for secondary school pupils, but one that appeals to young people's new senses and motives. In some cases, they are challenged more intensively than in the "normal" school day.
In order to provide parents, families and, in particular, pupils who will be completing their seventh school year or repeating their eighth school year in summer 2015 with information about this educational offer, the Chemnitz site, which is based at Georg-Weerth-Oberschule, invites all interested parties to an information event on 16 April 2015 at 6 p.m. in the Philippstraße 20 branch.
What should I become? What can I become? Which profession suits me? Every year, secondary school leavers in the Chemnitz area in particular ask themselves these questions. It is particularly difficult for pupils who have one or two problems with school requirements to find an answer to such questions.
The "Productive Learning" programme may be the right solution. Practice-orientated learning, a combination of academic learning and productive, practical work, has been the recipe for success in recent years for pupils whose prospects of successfully completing secondary school in years 7 and 8, let alone making a conscious career decision, seemed very slim - some even said "The best thing that could have happened to me".
With two school-based learning days and three learning days at self-selected practical learning locations, skills are developed that are important for training maturity in manual, technical, catering and social professions. The students get to know the requirements that are necessary for their desired profession in the day-to-day work of practitioners. And the companies get to know young people over a longer period of time, whose gifts, talents, abilities and skills are developed not only through school grades, but also through experience in everyday working life.
