The Chemnitz Christmas market is still open until 8pm today. Dismantling will then begin immediately. After all, the traders at the 220 or so stalls on the market, Neumarkt, Rosenhof, Jakobikirchplatz, Richard-Möbius-Straße, Düsseldorfer Platz and in Innere Klosterstraße want to celebrate Christmas Eve tomorrow.

The organisers draw a positive conclusion of this year's Christmas market: "Above all, the good, mostly dry winter weather - compared to last year - ensured an obvious increase in visitors." The weekend days were the days with the most visitors. But the early evening hours were also well attended during the week.

Coveted cups
From the opening on 29 November until today, around 720,000 cups have been washed in the central facility behind the town hall. This corresponds to around 144,000 litres of mulled wine and co. In addition, the system has cleaned more than 4,000 plates. The Christmas market cup was a popular souvenir. Around 25,000 cups changed hands.

Varied stage programme and lots of music:
The stage programme at this year's Christmas market ranged from brass band music, swing, jazz, singing, puppet theatre, dance, pop, violin to a classical children's programme. Around 40 different artists performed, including eight day-care centre groups, two school and church choirs and a club.

During his daily visit, Father Christmas gave presents to a total of 23 children and three kindergarten groups. A varied music programme with around 950 Christmas carols provided entertainment throughout the grounds. More than 200 songs were played every day.

After the Christmas market is before the Christmas market:
After evaluating the Christmas market in January, the organisers are already looking ahead to 27 November 2020, when the Chemnitz Christmas market 2020 will open. The application deadline for interested traders is 30 April 2020. By the middle of next year, it will be clear who will be at the Chemnitz Christmas market 2020. The organisation will begin booking the artists and making further plans in January. Numerous comments and suggestions from visitors, traders, caterers, tradespeople and participants have been received and will be incorporated into the evaluation.

The best news at the end: there will be more Christmas market days in 2020!
After 25 Christmas market days this year, everyone can look forward to 27 days next year.
