Position paper on support for cooperative building and housing project initiatives by the Free State of Saxony
The building mayors of the cities of Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz as well as the Leipziger Freiheit network and bauforum dresden e.V. agree that cooperative building and housing projects contribute to the diversity of the housing landscape in Saxony and must be supported by the Free State in future.
Together, the signatories of the position paper "Call for support from the Free State of Saxony for cooperative building and housing project initiatives" are demanding more support from the coalition partners of the CDU, the Greens and the SPD in the coming legislative period.
Both non-investment and investment measures can make an important contribution to strengthening co-operative and affordable housing. For example, the promotion of existing and the establishment of new counselling structures enables support services in the municipalities to be adapted to the respective framework conditions. Accompanied by a continuous Saxony-wide exchange of experience between the stakeholders, understanding and expertise for future tasks and solutions is growing.
In the area of investment, key demands include the expansion of housing construction subsidies and easier access to state-owned buildings and land for construction and housing project initiatives. In addition, securing property through interim financing of property purchases is of great importance for construction and housing project initiatives.
