Pornitzstraße gets residents' parking zone
Yesterday, the Planning, Building and Environment Committee decided to designate a residents' parking zone in Pornitzstraße.
The parking situation on Pornitzstrasse is a source of conflict between various interest groups due to its immediate proximity to the State Labour Court, the Administrative Court and the State Office for Family and Social Affairs. This causes restrictions for the residents in Pornitzstraße in their everyday lives. During the day, the occupancy rate of the parking spaces is very high at around 110 per cent, meaning that there are no free parking spaces available for residents. The situation only eases in the evening and at night. Residents of Pornitzstraße who work shifts or are not employed have virtually no possibility of finding a parking space for their car within a reasonable walking distance during the day.
The designation of the residents' parking zone is based on the proven significant shortage of parking spaces for the local population, a lack of private parking spaces and a simultaneous congestion of public parking spaces by non-resident long-term parkers. The basis for ordering residents' parking privileges is Section 45 of the STVO.
The cost of signposting the residents' parking zone is approx. 850 euros (gross). An administration fee of 30.00 euros per year is charged to residents for each parking permit.
The new residents' parking zone is to be set up by the end of May. The residents of Pornitzstraße will receive detailed information from the traffic authority in the civil engineering department about the application, the scope and the labelling of the residents' parking spaces approximately three weeks before the traffic signage comes into effect.
