Political participation online - digital civic participation

Adult education centre: Online lecture on 23 May, from 7 pm

On Monday, 23 May, from 7 to 8.30 pm, interested parties are invited to the online lecture "Online participation: Opportunities and challenges of political participation online".

Participation is free of charge. Registration is possible until Monday, 23 May, 12 noon at
www.vhs-chemnitz.de/kurs/S221M105. The access link will then be sent by e-mail in good time.

The terms "online participation", "digital citizen participation" and "e-democracy" have been around for some time. But what exactly do they mean? To what extent does this affect you? And what role does media literacy play?

The VHS online event will explain various forms of digital citizen participation. Media scientist Anna Soßdorf will first give a thematic overview and then go into the aims and topics of previous digital participation projects.

Practical examples of successful online participation will be named and tips will be given on how to initiate your own participation projects. Both the presentation and the subsequent discussion are intended to illustrate the links between media skills and political participation.

The speaker, Anna Soßdorf, works at the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy (DID) at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. She teaches and conducts research there on the topics of digitalisation and political education.

The event is part of the "trau.schau.wem? faktenfest und mediensicher" project to promote media literacy and is funded by the Saxon State Media Authority (SLM).
