Poetry meets accordion - home as a place of longing
City Library: A lyrical-musical quest on 14 February, 7 pm, in the event hall, TIETZ
On Friday 14 February at 7 pm, interested parties are invited to a lyrical-musical evening with the poet Karin Oeser and the accordion player Roman Yusipey in the TIETZ event hall.
Admission: 10 euros, concessions 8 euros. Tickets are available in advance and at the box office in the TIETZ, information desk on the ground floor.
A woman and a man, a young and a mature person, a poet and an accordion player, in persona Karin Oeser and Roman Yusipey, reach for the emotions of the audience in their programme "Poetry meets accordion".
Karin Oeser's poems are straightforward, with clear words. Rooted in the everyday, they get under the skin and stir up emotions across the entire spectrum of possibilities. They confuse, hurt or give away a smile. The primal human desire to avoid the abundance of thoughts is futile.
The pull of longing for a place of familiarity, an explosion of happiness hormones, butterflies in the stomach, honesty and generosity in dealing with one's own imperfections is ignited.
This is precisely where Roman Yusipey's masterfully interpreted music on the accordion meets the poetry of Karl-Marx-Stadt-born author Karin Oeser.
When compositions by Gershwin, Vivaldi, Piazzolla or Tchaikovsky are played, the sounds carry the thoughts of the poems forward. Roman Yusipey, a graduate of the Folkwang Academy of Music and a musician at home on the big stages, captivates the audience with his concertante playing.
A field of tension arises between the inner and outer worlds. A journey to oneself begins that is worth embarking on, perhaps to find the place of longing that is home.
