Playground on Andréplatz reopened

Just in time for Children's Day, children can once again take possession of the playground on Andréplatz. Mayor Michael Stötzer will officially open the playground on Andréplatz/Kaßberg on 1 June at 4 pm.
A new play equipment combination consisting of a slide, climbing wall and footbridge, wobbly bridge and platforms has been installed within the existing playground areas.
The equipment combination was customised by the play equipment manufacturer Lappset from Viersen. It covers an area of 22 by 12 metres and is suitable for children aged six to twelve.
Last year, play options were discussed with the young users and their parents. In addition to staff from the Parks Department, the City of Chemnitz's children's officer, Ute Spindler, was also involved in the planning.
The company Lappset was commissioned to supply and install the play equipment. The landscaping work was carried out by the construction companies: Massiv- & Industriebau GmbH from Amtsberg. The construction costs totalled around 67,000 euros.
The playground at Andréplatz measures around 400 square metres in total. There are still spring animals and a sandpit for smaller children. The city would also like to have this toddler area renovated this year for the youngest children. This renovation will also be coordinated with the monument protection authority, as Andréplatz is a listed building.
