Planting with summer flowers begins
Predominantly bee- and butterfly-friendly species selected
Tomorrow - Tuesday, 6 June - the gardenersfrom the City of Chemnitz's Parks Department will begin planting summer flowers.
Planting will start in the Am Roten Turm park, followed by the Schloßbergpark and Schloßplatz. Around 20,300 summer flowers will provide a colourful display over a total of 1040 square metres. Most of the species selected are bee and butterfly-friendly. The colourful mixture of cup mallows, ornamental baskets, star coneflowers, magnificent candles and sage will attract many bees and bumblebees, especially on the Schloßplatz.
The plantings were designed by the master gardeners in the care areas.
The plants were supplied by the Horn nursery in Geringswalde.
They cost around 23,400 euros.
