Planning steps for building construction measures
At its meeting today, the city council decided to initiate the necessary planning steps for the listed building construction measures in the following financial year and to include the necessary funding in the budget.
Expansion of secondary school capacity
As part of the partial school network plan, a capacity requirement of five full-time secondary schools is forecast for the city as a whole. The funds set aside in 2016 will be used to plan measures to provide the missing capacity. The results will be summarised in a separate presentation. The total costs over the next four years amount to 36,000,000 euros.
Altendorf primary school
This measure is intended to analyse the structural possibilities at the site with regard to the functionality of the dual school site, primary and secondary school. Cost: 3,000,000 euros.
Schönau primary and secondary school
The project comprises the interior fit-out of the old building, including barrier-free access.
The costs amount to 1,080,000 euros.
Janusz Korczak School
The building consists of two buildings, each with two sections connected by a connecting
connecting structure. The building has already been refurbished in some areas, such as the roof, electric awnings and floor coverings. The current project involves the refurbishment of the façade,
fire protection measures and partial interior refurbishment. The costs amount to 1,750,000 euros.
Friedrich Hähnel-Straße 7 day care centre (independent provider)
The heating and electrical installations could not be replaced during the external refurbishment. Some of these building services installations are still in their original state and no longer
no longer meet the technical and safety requirements. The measure involves renewing the heating system, completely replacing the electrical installation and the small goods lifts. Interior work such as flooring and door renewals will be carried out. The costs amount to 300,000 euros.
Large gymnasium Sportforum
Based on the profitability calculation, an extension to the gymnasium is favoured. The City of Chemnitz's 2020 sports development plan provides detailed justification for the urgent need to extend the gymnastics hall for training purposes. The main objective is to expand and consolidate the national centre and to further develop gymnasts with top international performances for the national team. Overall, the gymnasts at the national centre and its coaches have proven that the work being done in Chemnitz is very successful. For several years now, Chemnitz has produced a large number of medallists at the German Youth Championships. The current training centre, a large gymnasium, is used daily from Monday to Saturday by around 80 athletes for training sessions. The costs totalled 5,073,000 euros.
Track surface Cycling track
In connection with the renewal of the track cycling head, the surfaces of the track have also been affected. The renovation of the track surface is necessary to ensure that the track can continue to be used for cycling. The costs amount to 500,000 euros.
Glösa equipment shed
The new building is to consist of the Glösa volunteer fire station and a branch of the FW II - Hilbersdorf rescue station. This extension will improve the provision of emergency services to the population in the northern districts of Röhrsdorf, Wittgensdorf, Borna, Heinersdorf, Furth and Glösa. Planning and construction are being carried out in coordination with the rescue association. The costs amount to 1,410,000 euros.
Art collections, graphics cabinet
The replacement of graphics cabinets due to health-endangering formaldehyde contamination is urgently required due to current reports from an expert office, which show that there is a health hazard in the rooms of the graphics department of the Chemnitz Art Collections due to formaldehyde-contaminated graphics cabinets. The graphics cabinets must be removed, disposed of and replaced with new ones. Extensive precautions must also be taken before the graphics department can be refurnished. Among other things, all (thousands of) works stored in the graphics cabinets must be cleared out and placed in temporary storage. Cost: around 226,000 euros.
Haus Kraftwerk, Kaßbergstr. 3 (independent organisation)
When the "new building" was erected in 1956, a connecting structure was built between the villa and the new building, consisting of a basement with used rooms, a passageway area currently equipped with raised beds and a steel/wire-glass roof structure. This connecting structure, which must be technically assigned to the new building, was not part of the refurbishment of the "new building" in the years up to 2003. The measure includes the construction of a new roofing structure for the connecting building, as well as the creation of a multi-purpose room through a change of use.
