Piano matinee with Moritz Ernst

The pianist and harpsichordist Moritz Ernst is coming to Chemnitz again. On Sunday 17 March at 11 a.m. he will be playing at the music school at Gerichtsstraße 1 in Chemnitz.
He has been well known here since he first played in 2008 at the Museum Gunzenhauser Kontext concerts for exhibitions, e.g. on Otto Dix on the harpsichord, at the Klangwerk concerts on the piano and in the music school he has given concerts with new music in recent years. He was unforgettable back then: his sheet music fell off the piano stand and instead of interrupting the music, Moritz continued to play and read the music from the floor. The audience was amazed and delighted.
Now, for the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz, he will play works by formerly ostracised Jewish composers on the piano: Viktor Ullmann, Artur Vincent Lourié, Walter Braunfels. But the audience will also be offered familiar pieces: Music by Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy - the latter was also banned from being performed under National Socialism.
The event is a co-operation between the Days of Jewish Culture, the Municipal Music School and the Berlin-Chemnitz association 'musica suprimata'.
