"Piano Colours" - a piano recital from two to eight hands

Concert by the Municipal Music School on 19 April, 6 p.m., Villa Esche

The Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e. V. and the Städtische Musikschule Chemnitz are once again inviting you to the "Amadé in spe" concert at Villa Esche next Thursday, 19 April. The focus this year is on the piano. The entire spectrum of piano music will be played on one and two grand pianos, from two to eight hands and in duos with other instruments.

From 6 p.m., 23 pupils aged 9 to 18 will present the keyboard department as part of the established concert series "Amadé in spe", which is taking place for the 14th time this year, including works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Astor Piazzolla and Antonin Dvořak.

Two special pieces are on the programme; one of them is the "Nocturno" from the Serenade op. 96 by Cornelius Gurlitt (1820 - 1901). The remarkable thing about this piece is that it can be played with eight hands on two pianos, which is rarely realised in concert. The second work, which will be played with eight hands on this evening, was written by the American musician William Gillock (1917 - 1993) and also promises surprises.

Tickets are available from the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e. V., on +49 (0)371 69 49 444, online and at www.mozart-sachsen.de.

Admission is 12 euros, concessions 8 euros. Children under the age of 10 are admitted free of charge, prior registration is required.
