Philharmonic solo trumpeter as guest at the December Music Café
In December, music school director Nancy Gibson welcomes Conrad Wecke, one of the solo trumpeters of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra, to the monthly "DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" series at the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre. As usual, the music café will take place on the first Thursday of the month on 4 December at 3 pm in the large hall of the Kraftwerk, Kaßbergstraße 36.
Conrad Wecke received his first trumpet lessons at the Görlitz music school and in the Horka trombone choir and won first prize in the solo category of the national "Jugend musiziert" competition in 1993. He studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig and graduated as an orchestral musician for trumpet. Before taking up an engagement as solo trumpeter in the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra in Chemnitz in 2001, Conrad Wecke was a member of the Oberlausitzer Blasmusikanten and the Original Elbländer Blasmusikanten, among others.
Conrad Wecke is not only a virtuoso on his instrument, he also has a heart for children and therefore teaches trumpet at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. His pupil Valentin Keppler will perform a musical sample of his skills at the music café on 4 December. Guests can of course also look forward to musical surprises presented by Conrad Wecke himself and a discussion between host Nancy Gibson and the trumpeter.
Friends of music can once again expect an entertaining and informative afternoon with coffee and cake. The organisers are looking forward to welcoming many guests. Admission to the music café is 5 euros including coffee and cake. Guests who are dependent on a wheelchair should use the signposted side entrance.
