Pfortensteg bridge gets a new coat of paint
Over the next three weeks, the Pfortensteg will receive new wood protection in two work phases. This involves an oil-based coating in the colour oak, which has been agreed with the department for the protection of historical monuments. The cost of this maintenance work is around 25,000 euros.
The measure was approved by the lower water authority and the state dam administration. Subsequently, wood preservation work will also be carried out on the smaller bridge over the Kappelbach and the railing in between. The construction department estimates the costs for this at 15,000 euros.
Employees of the company HBR Bau- und Reko GmbH are currently erecting scaffolding on the Pfortensteg bridge. There will only be restrictions for pedestrian traffic to the extent that the width of the pavement will have to be reduced to around 1.50 metres.
