Pedestrian crossing at Mitte railway station to be rebuilt
Start of construction work at the Reichsstraße/Stollberger Straße junction on 23 September
On Monday, 23 September, work will begin on the construction of a pedestrian crossing across Stollberger Straße parallel to Reichsstraße directly at the bridge to the DB stop "Bahnhof Mitte".
As it has not been possible to cross Stollberger Straße at this point up to now, pedestrians currently have to take a diversion of 75 metres to reach the entrance to the DB "Bahnhof Mitte" stop. To avoid this, pedestrians usually take a dangerous shortcut across the CVAG railway tracks. With the construction of the footpath connection, the crossing route will now be reduced to six metres in length.
The construction project is scheduled for completion by 1 November 2024. The costs amount to around 125,000 euros.
The companies Asphalt-Bau GmbH from Bernsdorf for the pavement construction, Lasch GmbH from Zwickau for the track construction work and Stührenberg GmbH from Gera for the traffic lights were commissioned to carry out the work.
