On Thursday, 6 March at 5 p.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will open the exhibition "Peaces - An Exploration of Plural Peace ACROSS Borders" in the Weltecho studio at Annaberger Straße 24.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
The opening will be framed by two dance performances. Offers such as a guided tour through the artworks, a film screening and, later in the evening, a poetry panel will open up different perspectives on peacebuilding in a fragmented world.
By combining creative expression with cultural exchange, the audience is invited to reflect on the complexity of peace as both a universal endeavour and a deeply personal imperative.
The exhibition reimagines peace as both a plural concept and a multi-layered experience, highlighting its artistic, scientific and social dimensions.
The exhibition is hosted and organised by the City of Chemnitz with the support of GO!2025, the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica - Gorizia and the ACROSS University Alliance1).
The collaborative, interdisciplinary exhibition includes contributions by students from ACROSS universities and young artists from Nova Gorica, Udine, Banja Luka, Chemnitz and beyond. It includes contemporary art installations, videos, photographs, live performances and a cinema programme with short films and animations that challenge perceptions of hospitality, migration and resilience while addressing peace as both a transhuman and transnational priority.
The exhibition was curated by Dr Peter Purg, University of Nova Gorica (ACROSS) with the support of Gašper Rebernik, Taša Mir and Matej Pirkovič from the University of Nova Gorica School of Art.
The exhibiting artists are Abiral Khadka & EMMIR, Brina Fekonja, Emilija Vučićević, Tamara Taskova, Gašper Rebernik, Gordan Stefanov and Peter Purg as well as students from the University of Girona.
