Note traffic restriction between Wittgensdorfer Straße and Bürgerstraße - lane restriction to one lane in each direction
On Monday (7 October), the civil engineering department will begin construction work on Leipziger Straße between Wittgensdorfer Straße and Bürgerstraße. The carriageway will be renewed here. This measure should be completed by 1 November 2013.
The construction work will involve the renovation of the kerb on the city side, the redesign of the central island at Wittgensdorfer Straße and the renovation of the carriageway on the city side. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in the city-bound and one lane in the country-bound direction.
Gunter Hüttner und Co. GmbH has been commissioned to carry out the work.
The construction costs amount to 125,000 euros.
Information from the traffic authority (see also map): Road users please note that during the construction period the carriageway will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
Bürgerstraße will be fully closed and a diversion will be set up via Leipziger Straße - Winklerstraße - Luisenstraße - Beyerstraße.
Traffic jams are to be expected on Leipziger Straße at peak times. Those familiar with the area are advised to take a wide detour around the construction area.
Pedestrian traffic can use the pavement area with restrictions. In addition, a mobile pedestrian traffic light will be set up for pedestrians to cross Leipziger Straße in the direction of the city centre after Bürgerstraße.
