Pauline Schäfer wins gold at the World Gymnastics Championships in Montreal
First German women's World Championship title in 30 years
Pauline Schäfer from TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf won the gold medal on the balance beam at the World Gymnastics Championships in Montreal, Canada, last night. Schäfer had already won bronze on this apparatus in 2015.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "I would like to congratulate Pauline Schäfer on this great success. It was an exciting competition and I have great respect for this achievement. The gold medal is further proof of the outstanding work being done at the Chemnitz Olympic Training Centre. I would therefore also like to say a big thank you to coach Gabi Frehse."
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will attend the reception for Pauline Schäfer next Wednesday, 11 October at 11.30 a.m. in the small gymnastics hall in the Sportforum. Here, the world champion will sign the city's Golden Book.
