Party in the Capital of Culture application year
Saturday, 2 February, Weltecho, from 8.25 pm panel discussion, from 10 pm "Capital Party"
To kick off the "Capital of Culture application year", friends of the Capital of Culture application, interested Chemnitz residents, guests and night owls are invited to a panel discussion followed by a "Capital Party" on Saturday, 2 February, at Weltecho Chemnitz from 8.25 pm. Admission is free.
From 8.25 pm, there will be a panel discussion with two DJs from the current European Capitals of Culture: Damiano from Matera (Italy) and George from Plovdiv (Bulgaria): How did they experience and experience their home cities in recent years and now in the Capital of Culture year? What has changed? What went well? What were the problems? These are all questions that also concern Chemnitz. Afterwards, from 10 p.m., the two DJs will play music at the "Capital City Party".
Timeline for the Capital of Culture 2025 application process: On 30 September 2019, the city of Chemnitz will submit its bid book for the Capital of Culture application in Berlin. Currently, the cities of Nuremberg, Hildesheim, Hanover, Magdeburg, Gera, Dresden, Zittau and Chemnitz have publicly announced their intention to take part in the European Capital of Culture bid. At the beginning of 2020, the jury will make a selection from these eight applicant cities, which will be placed on a short list. This means that these cities will be allowed to submit a detailed application. In mid-2020, the jury will visit the cities and the final selection meeting will take place. The title "European Capital of Culture" for the year 2025 will be awarded at the end of 2020.
