Partnership concert with guests from Mulhouse
Symphony concert on 4 May, 5 p.m., Chemnitz City Hall - Photo opportunity with Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky on 3 May, 3 p.m., City Council Chamber
On Saturday, 4 May at 5 pm, the Saxon Symphony Orchestra Chemnitz e. V. invites you to a symphony concert in the Great Hall of the Stadthalle. The spring concert entitled "Poèsie á la Française" will take place with the participation of the Collegicum Musicum de Mulhouse from Chemnitz's twin city of Mulhouse.
Five members of the Collegicum Musicum de Mulhouse will be travelling to Chemnitz for a week, some of whom will also be actively involved in the concert. The delegation will take part in the host city's rehearsals in order to gain an impression of life in the organisation and make personal contacts.
On Friday, 3 May at 3 pm, Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky will welcome the guests from Mulhouse in the city council chamber. Representatives of the media are invited to a photo opportunity.
The concert on Saturday will feature works by Luigi Cherubini, Ernest Chausson, Gabriel Fauré, Georges Bizet and Alexandre Guilmant. The soloists will be Lenka Matjáková on the violin and Ralf Schädlich on the organ. Tickets priced from 5.50 euros to 19 euros are available from the usual advance booking offices.
The visit serves as a prelude to a longer-term co-operation between the two orchestras. The plan is to win over the Collegium Musicum de Mulhouse for a joint concert in the Capital of Culture year 2025, for which a larger part of the orchestra will be invited to Chemnitz. In addition, a long-term cooperation with return visits to France is to be established. The City of Chemnitz is funding the project with 2,000 euros via the town twinning guideline.
