From 10 to 12 September, the city of Chemnitz will be exhibiting at SEMICON Taiwan, one of the world's leading trade fairs for semiconductor technologies. Represented in the German Pavilion of Silicon Saxony, Chemnitz will be showcasing its expertise in microelectronics, robotics and future technologies, which are supported by Chemnitz University of Technology, strong research institutions and innovative companies.
The focus is on the cooperative approach of the Saxon locations, which utilise the opportunities of the global semiconductor industry and make the strengths of the region visible. The Saxony, Dresden and Leipzig Economic Development Agencies and other partners are also taking part.
In addition to attending the trade fair, the delegation from Chemnitz will use the trip to make further contacts through direct dialogue. Visits to interested suppliers and discussions with partners such as the Taiwan Chamber of Foreign Trade, Germany Trade & Invest and other local institutions are planned.
This will build on previous activities: initial delegation trips by Taiwanese company representatives to Chemnitz and the visit by the Taiwanese business consul in recent months have shown that ESMC's large-scale settlement in Dresden will have an impact far beyond the state capital and provide impetus for the whole of Saxony. For Chemnitz, this means the opportunity to strengthen its role as a complementary location in the value chain.
Silvana Bergk, Head of Economic Affairs at the City of Chemnitz: "We don't just want to accompany the current developments, we want to play an active role in shaping them. Our strategy focuses on cooperation within the Saxon locations and on practical solutions that make it easier for international partners to get started. Close cooperation with neighbouring business development agencies is a key element of this."
With its presence in Taiwan, the city of Chemnitz is making it clear that it sees itself as a reliable partner in a global market of the future and as part of a strong Saxon network that is actively promoting the expansion of the semiconductor ecosystem in Europe.
