Between Europe Day on 9 May and International Youth Day on 12 August, discussions between young people and political, economic, cultural and social leaders will take place in school classes, youth centres and market squares all over Germany.
The aim of the series of events is to make decision-makers and the public aware of what moves young people and what opinions and views they have on various topics. The diverse and creative formats are intended to help make young people's ideas more visible. Young people set their own agenda for the European Year of Youth and show what is important to them.
How exactly does this work? The campaign activities can take many forms. Everything is possible, from small discussion groups to larger discussion formats and street actions.
The aim is to start a conversation about the concerns of young people in Europe and to sensitise decision-makers and the general public to these concerns. The talks are organised by young people, youth groups, youth initiatives, child and youth welfare organisations and many more, as well as the decision-makers themselves.
Anyone interested in organising their activities as part of the Year of Youth can register them on the EU website for the European Year of Youth. This includes youth groups, youth associations and other child and youth welfare organisations, other civil society organisations as well as authorities and state institutions at local, state, federal and European level.
After a brief check, the entries then appear on an interactive map. The map provides an overview of activities for the European Year of Youth throughout Europe. It shows opportunities for participation and provides suggestions for your own projects and activities. The logo and other communication materials can also be downloaded from the EU website.
