Participants of the "Summer Academy Germany - Portugal" visit Chemnitz Town Hall
Invitation for media representatives to the photo session for Friday, 9 August, 9:30 am, at the town hall entrance
Young people from Portugal and their Chemnitz project partners are expected to attend a workshop on the topic of Europe organised by the EU Office in the Mayor's Office of the City of Chemnitz at Chemnitz City Hall. For the participants from Benfica do Ribatejo and Chemnitz, this is also the opening event of the "Summer Academy Germany - Portugal", a project funded by the EU "Youth in Action" programme. Partners of the project are the Interkulturelle Garten Chemnitz e. V. and the Portuguese Rancho Folklorico.
The event will take place in Chemnitz Town Hall on Friday, 9 August. EU Coordinator Pia Sachs will welcome the project participants.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to the photo session on Friday, 9 August at 9:30 am at the entrance to the town hall (Neumarkt side).
Before the workshop begins, the programme for the project participants includes a tour of the town hall with tower keeper Stefan Weber.
The Rancho Folklorico group carries out socio-cultural work in their home town - around 60 kilometres from Lisbon. They also perform music and dance at international festivals. The fact that music and dance are very important to them can also be seen in their traditional costumes, which they will be showing in the town hall. Until 15 August, the young people from Portugal will be exploring various forms of democratic participation on site in Chemnitz and comparing them with those in their Portuguese homeland. The aim of the exchange is long-term cooperation, for example on the topic of "Gardening in the city".
