Parks department completes path connection in the Helbersdorf ravine

The efforts of the neighbourhood management and the Parks Department to initiate a new, contemporary - i.e. maintenance-intensive and ecological - use for the Scheffelschlucht gorge are bearing fruit.

The newly founded "NaturWALDinsel Helbersdorf" project group, together with the Kappel/Helbersdorf neighbourhood management, is inviting people to the opening of the new path through the Scheffelschlucht gorge tomorrow, Friday 17 April 2015, and is calling for a joint spring campaign. Children from the "Am Stadtpark" after-school care centre run by Jugendberufshilfe Chemnitz gGmbH will be taking part. Afterwards there will be refreshments for the hard-working helpers. More helpers are very welcome.

The head forester of the city of Chemnitz will be available to answer questions from children and other interested parties. There will be a small planning workshop with the head of the planning department to revitalise and design the new "green classroom".

The meeting point is at 1 p.m. at the site of the old football pitch wall.

The project was designed by Zwickau landscape architects S. Staudte and C. Weiß from Architekturconcept ARC and realised by the Chemnitz-based company Tiefbau Böhm.
