Parking ticket machines are locked over New Year's Eve

New fee exemption regulation for electric vehicles from 3 January

Once again this year, all municipal parking ticket machines will be locked over New Year's Eve. This procedure has proved successful in previous years. The flaps are blocked so that fireworks cannot be ignited in the dispensing compartment of the machines. This prevents damage that would result in costly repairs.

The parking ticket machines will be out of service from Tuesday, 28 December until Sunday, 2 January.

New fee exemption regulation for electric vehicles from 3 January

When the parking ticket machines are put back into operation on 3 January 2022, a new regulation will apply to the parking of electrically powered vehicles in accordance with the Electric Mobility Act. This was decided by the city council at its meeting on 24 November 2021.

Accordingly, these vehicles are now only exempt from the parking fee for a maximum parking period of two hours in parking zone I. An e-licence plate must be present on the vehicle for this. Furthermore, the start of parking must be visibly documented with a parking disc.
For parking beyond two hours, a parking ticket must be purchased on site or the mobile phone parking service must be used.

In parking zone II, the parking fee exemption for e-vehicles continues to apply all day.

These regulations are limited until 31 December 2023. They can also be read directly on the parking ticket machines.
