Park railway station building is inaugurated
Inauguration ceremony on 14 October at the station in Küchwald
On Saturday, 14 October at 10 a.m., Mayor Michael Stötzer will officially open the renovated Parkeisenbahn station building in Küchwald in the presence of invited guests from politics and business, project participants as well as supporters and sponsors.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
A colourful opening ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the station with a small stage programme, children's carousel and snack stands. Representatives of the Chemnitz Park Railway and the City of Chemnitz will also be offering guided tours of the building.
The building, which dates back to 1980, was renovated and extended in June 2022 as it no longer met today's requirements. Among other things, separate changing rooms were created for girls and boys, including the associated sanitary facilities, as well as a sanitary facility for people with disabilities. The kiosk section integrated into the building was also refurbished so that a culinary offering is once again available.
The refurbishment was carried out during ongoing railway operations. A container facility with changing rooms and a cash desk as well as a sanitary container were provided especially for this purpose. In the spirit of sustainability, the sanitary container is now at its final destination at the ski jump in Grüna.
The total costs amount to around 1.33 million euros. Approximately 682,000 euros of this amount will be subsidised by the Free State, with the City of Chemnitz managing to generate an increase following the construction price increases that have occurred, particularly due to the effects of the war in Ukraine.
