Parade on Sunday (25 August) for the 750th anniversary celebrations in Grüna
Traffic authority asks for attention to closures and diversions
On Sunday, 25 August, a large parade will take place in the Chemnitz district of Grüna on the occasion of the 750th anniversary celebrations from 1:30 to 4 p.m. According to information from the organisers, 1,200 participants as well as 45 floats, 30 vehicles, 8 bands and 50 horses will be present on site. The traffic authorities of the City of Chemnitz therefore ask residents, festival visitors (including those from outside) and all other road users travelling through the area to take into account the traffic restrictions necessary for the preparation and execution of the parade.
Closures for construction work: Chemnitzer Straße between Pleißaer Straße and Mühlenstraße will be fully closed on Sunday, 25 August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (also for regular traffic). During this time, Mittelbacher Straße from Schachtweg to Chemnitzer Straße, the street An der Wiesenmühle from Neefestraße to Mittelbacher Straße and Schachtweg between Karlstraße and Mittelbacher Straße will also be closed.
Closures on the parade route: To safeguard the parade, the closure on Chemnitzer Straße from Forststraße to Mühlenstraße will be extended from 13:30 to 16:00. The parade route Limbacher Straße - Am Hexenberg - Pleißaer Straße - Baumgartenstraße - August-Bebel-Straße - Dorfstraße - Forststraße - Chemnitzer Straße will be operationally closed from 1.30 pm to 4 pm due to the securing and escorting of the parade by the police.
Closures for stationary traffic:For safety reasons and to ensure the required passage width, parking bays will be closed on Am Hexenberg between Limbacher Straße and Feenweg (direction Feenweg), on Baumgartenstraße between Pleißaer Straße and August-Bebel-Straßee (direction August-Bebel-Straße), on Dorfstraße between August-Bebel-Straße and Forststraße (on both sides) and on Mittelbacher Straße between Chemnitzer Straße and the railway bridge. We kindly ask the affected residents to observe the stopping restrictions.
Diversion route: Due to the closure of the Grüna through road, traffic will be diverted. From the direction of Zwickauer Straße /Neefestraße: Hofer Straße - Landgraben - Brückenstraße (Wüstenbrand) . From the direction of Wüstenbrand / motorway A4: Brückenstraße (Wüstenbrand) - Landgraben - Hofer Straße - Zwickauer Straße/ Neefestraße.
Road users are requested to follow the signposted diversion route.
Public transport:To connect the Grüna district to the public transport network, line 41 will run from Hohensteiner Straße via An der Wiesenmühle and use the Fortis site as a turning point. An alternative stop will be set up on the Fortis site. Line 126 will run from Reichenbrand church via Mittelbach - Landgraben - to the Grüna bus turning point (town exit).
The following buses are affected by this regulation:
Line 41: Schönau from 9:57, 12:57, 14:57, Grüna from 12:25, 14:25;
Line 126: Schönau from 10:57, 11:57, 13:57, Hohenstein-Ernstthal from 10:24, 11:14, 13:14 or Wüstenbrand from 15:24.
Parking facilities for visitors: Visitors arriving by car are requested to use the Fortis car park An der Wiesenmühle and the Penny and Netto car parks on Chemnitzer Straße.
