Overwhelming second round of applications for microprojects
Almost 60 new project ideas for Chemnitz on the way to becoming Capital of Culture
The second application phase for micro-projects under the title "City Culture Europe" came to an end on 31 March 2018. The results far exceeded expectations.
Project manager Ferenc Csák: "There is now huge interest in the Capital of Culture bid in Chemnitz. This can be seen not only in the number of applications for micro-projects, but also in the quality of the ideas on how the urban living space can be actively shaped."
Chemnitz residents were invited to take part in the application process for the European Capital of Culture 2025 with creative projects.
In the first selection round, 26 project ideas were submitted, 11 of which were selected for funding. The second phase has now come to an end with almost 60 submissions, including projects from the fields of cultural education, music, art, environment, theatre and others.
The jury, which was nominated by the programme council of the Capital of Culture application, will meet until the end of April and select projects that will then receive funding of up to 2500 euros.
