Numerous spring-flowering bulbs will bloom again in the coming weeks. The 2,130 bulbs planted last autumn will be supplemented by 11,250 pansies and 1,540 ranunculus over the next few days.

In autumn 2020, the gardeners from the Chemnitz Parks Department planted 7,450 flower bulbs in the city. These will bring colour to the Chemnitz cityscape.

The total number of bulbs is made up of 2,500 daffodils, 300 dwarf irises, 3,450 grape hyacinths, 1,000 spring snowflakes and 200 false zillas.

In the park by the Red Tower, 1,080 red imperial crowns, 350 yellow daffodils and 700 white tulips will bloom together with 8,250 blue pansies and 3,000 yellow pansies. The castle square is embellished by 1,540 ranunculus in two colours (pink, white/pink). The plants grow on a total of 488 square metres of public greenery in the beds in the town centre.

The cost of the spring bloomers is around 4,500 euros. Depending on the weather, planting of the beds will begin at the end of March 2021.

The Dresden horticultural company W. Willkomm GbR has been commissioned to supply the spring bloomers for 2021.

Note for photographers: Depending on the weather, there may be an opportunity to photograph the planting work in the park at the Red Tower on Tuesday, 30 March at around 1 pm.
