Overview of spring planting 2020
Hundreds of thousands of spring flowers such as daffodils and crocuses will bloom again in many parks and along the main roads in 2020. This stock has been purposefully built up over the decades. In addition, the spring planting of the beds was already prepared in the autumn of the previous year.
In autumn 2019, 8,800 flower bulbs were planted, followed in spring 2020 by 9,300 pansies and 1,300 centaury. The cost of these spring bloomers is around 3,000 euros.
In the park by the Red Tower, 7,300 red tulips will then bloom together with 2,500 blue and 5,600 yellow pansies and 1,300 centaury. The castle square will be embellished by 1,500 yellow tulips and 1,200 pansies. The plants grow on a total of 875 square metres of beds in the public green space.
Depending on the weather, planting of the beds will begin at the end of March 2020.
The Dresden horticultural company W. Willkomm GbR has been commissioned to supply the spring bloomers for 2020.
