Over-allocation of funds for youth welfare
The rising number of cases, the increased number of hours per case and the lower level of state funding in conjunction with higher personnel costs due to collective wage agreements are leading to additional financial requirements in youth welfare. At its meeting today, the City Council therefore decided to provide additional funds totalling EUR 729,903 for youth welfare work in 2018.
The forecast available since December estimates the total requirement at 32.4 million euros, thus correcting the initial estimate. The City of Chemnitz will receive an additional payment of 1.3 million euros from the federal government's benefits pot. From this, the Youth Welfare Office provides the additional requirement of 729,903 euros.
Outpatient educational support and outpatient socio-educational family support increased their expenditure due to higher personnel costs as a result of collective wage agreements. In addition, projects received around 127,000 euros less from state funding. Home education and other forms of assisted living outside of Chemnitz were forced to increase expenditure due to higher accommodation costs outside of the city. The new school counselling service was not previously included in the forecast and is now included in the additional funding.
