Over-allocation of funds for sports facilities
The city council today approved the over-allocation of funds for three construction measures at sports facilities. The total of 978,000 euros will come from the budget for the reconstruction of the main stadium in the Sportforum, as the construction process has been delayed and the funds will therefore only be needed at a later date.
- Small gymnasium in the Sportforum: Construction costs of 1.5 million euros were estimated for this. However, the public tender had to be cancelled for several trades. Subsequently, contracts were awarded by private treaty, the results of which far exceeded the cost calculations. In order to safeguard the work of the national gymnastics centre, the extension of the gymnastics hall is absolutely essential - also with a view to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The additional costs of 700,000 euros are therefore being made available.
- Klaffenbach gymnasium: 1 million euros was initially estimated for the construction project. The tender results led to additional costs due to supplements (additional work) and new plans for the energy supply. An additional total of 228,000 euros will therefore be made available.
- Access to the Markersdorfer Straße gymnasium: Here too, the results of the tender exceed the estimated costs of 108,000 euros. As proper access to the sports hall complex is also required for the subsequent construction work on the gymnasiums, additional funds totalling EUR 50,000 are necessary.
