Over-allocation of funds for social assistance
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to provide additional funds for social welfare totalling EUR 8,224,979.
The reason for this is the increase in the number of benefit communities under SGB II and the associated higher expenses for accommodation and heating. In addition, additional expenditure is required for the initial furnishing of flats, which is also a result of the increase in the number of benefit communities, particularly Ukrainian people.
In the area of benefits from the education and participation package (BuT), there are additional expenses mainly for lunchtime meals due to an increase in the number of eligible children and higher meal prices.
Additional expenses are also forecast for subsistence benefits in accordance with SGB XII. These mainly result from higher expenses for standard requirements and for accommodation and heating costs, as the number of beneficiaries has risen more than expected.
