Outdoor pools have a good season
Interim results of the bathing summer - municipal pool reopens
The outdoor pool season in Chemnitz is currently at its peak thanks to the perfect swimming weather. After the first half of the holidays, a positive interim result can be seen.
The four municipal outdoor pools in Gablenz, Wittgensdorf, Bernsdorf and Einsiedel have recorded an increase of around 10,000 visitors compared to the previous year. A total of 70,031 bathers were counted as at 31 July 2015. The Wittgensdorf outdoor pool in particular can look forward to an increase of 5,100 guests, followed by the Gablenz outdoor pool with an increase of 3,200 visitors.
The Oberrabenstein reservoir is also one of the most popular swimming destinations in Chemnitz. 48,000 visitors were recorded here on 4 August 2015. However, according to Roland Hauschild, Managing Director of Eissport und Freizeit GmbH, which operates the reservoir, this is a rather average interim result. "In May, there were just 1,000 visitors to the reservoir due to the bad weather. It was similar in June. But since July, both the weather and the response have been excellent. If it stays this good, we expect 60,000 visitors this season," says Hauschild.
The municipal pool will also be open again from Monday, 10 August 2015. Following scheduled work on the domestic water supply system, the 50-metre indoor swimming pool will be back in operation during the usual summer opening hours of the indoor pools.
Visitors can use it as follows until 23 August 2015: Mondays from 1pm - 8pm, Wednesdays from 6am - 8pm, Fridays from 6am - 12pm and Sundays from 9am - 3pm. Last admission is possible until one hour before closing time. From 24 August 2015, the Stadtbad Chemnitz will be open again at the usual opening times.
