Outdoor pool season starts on 18 May

Water temperature in indoor pools higher again by the end of the summer closure period

The water temperature in the city of Chemnitz's indoor swimming pools will be temporarily raised to the original pool water temperature before the energy crisis (28 degrees Celsius in the sports pool area). This will initially apply until the end of the summer closure of the indoor pools this year.

At the time of the decision to lower the temperature to 27 degrees last autumn, it was not possible to predict how the energy supply would develop. As this development is currently easier to predict, the temperature can be raised again for the time being.
In the course of this, it will also be examined whether the drop in visitor numbers in recent months is solely due to the lowering of the temperature.

Outdoor pool season 2023

This year's outdoor pool season starts at the Wittgensdorf and Gablenz outdoor pools on Thursday, 18 May (Ascension Day). The Einsiedel outdoor pool will follow a week later, on Saturday 27 May.
The Bernsdorf outdoor pool will not be available in the 2023 season due to the construction of the new swimming complex.

The outdoor pools are open at the following times

Swimming clubs/special opening times for the municipal swimming pool (summer)

To support the municipal swimming clubs, which are restricted in their preparation for competitions due to the summer closing times of the indoor pools, and for the swimmers, who arewho would also like to use an indoor pool during the summer school holidays, special opening times will also be offered in the municipal pool for public use and training in 2023. As things stand at present, the 50-metre hall will be open from 3 June to 30 July and the 25-metre hall from 31 July to 27 August.
