Outdoor pool season 2016 starts
The Chemnitz outdoor pool season starts next weekend. The two outdoor pools in Bernsdorf and Einsiedel invite all water lovers to splash around and swim from Saturday, 14 May 2016. The Gablenz and Wittgensdorf outdoor pools will open a week later, on 21 May 2016. The Bernsdorf, Einsiedel and Wittgensdorf outdoor pools are expected to close again on 28 August 2016 and the Gablenz outdoor pool on 11 September 2016.
Overall, the four outdoor pools are in a good state of preparation, meaning that the outdoor pool season can begin as planned. The Bernsdorf outdoor pool is the oldest of the four municipally operated outdoor pools in terms of its structural and technical infrastructure. The facilities are maintained and serviced with great effort every year so that this facility can be made available as planned.

Bernsdorf: 14 May to 28 August
Einsiedel: 14 May to 28 August
Wittgensdorf: 21 May to 28 August
Gablenz: 21 May to 11 September
Early and late season (outside the summer holidays) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
High season (summer holidays 27 June to 7 August 2016) from 10 am to 8 pm
Work during pre-season preparation
Cleaning work is currently being or has been carried out in all outdoor pools on the individual pools, the splash water tanks, maintenance of the technical systems for the pool chemicals and the air compressors as well as inspections of the numerous lifting systems and circulation pumps. The cleaning of the entire social buildings, inspections of the diving towers and large water slides, including the associated TÜV inspections. Furthermore, the playground facilities are repaired and in some cases adapted to the latest legal requirements to ensure safe playground operation. The beach volleyball courts and the badminton court at the Gablenz outdoor pool will be completely overhauled, the green areas maintained and the pool surrounds etc. cleaned and prepared for the upcoming outdoor pool operation. The measures implemented in all four outdoor pools are worth around 160,000 euros.
