Outdoor facilities at the "Rasselbande" and "Sonnenblume" daycare centres are being renovated
This week, work began to renovate the outdoor facilities of the two daycare centres "Rasselbande" and "Sonnenblume" located at Carl-von Ossietzky-Straße 190.
The outdoor area has been heavily utilised due to the high pressure of use.
Chemnitz City Council decided to renovate the facility in November 2023 (B-157/2023).
The areas for crèche and kindergarten children are to be separated from each other. Both toddler areas will each have an elliptical roller track, which will border the sand and fall protection gravel areas covered with awnings. New play equipment will be built on these areas. In the eastern area of the daycare centre, a larger sand play area will be installed as a mud area with a built-in mud table.
The outdoor facilities of the two kindergarten areas will be combined with a spacious roller rink. A new piece of play equipment is located in the centre of the roller track. A football pitch with artificial turf and two goals will also be created. Equipment huts will also be moved or replaced. The existing paths and terrace areas will be cleared of unevenness and renovated, and a large awning will provide shade.
The outdoor play areas will also be better protected from view with dense shrub planting. At present, they can still be seen from many sides.
During the course of the work, temporary noise pollution may occur despite consideration for quiet times. Work on Saturdays is not planned, but cannot be ruled out.
The work is being carried out by the construction company Steinbach und Richter GbR from Lichtenau. UKL Landschaftsarchitekten from Dresden will be supervising the construction work.
The construction costs amount to approx. 376,000 euros.
The project is also being financed with funding from the VwV Kita-Bau subsidy programme
