Ottoteich pond in Altendorf gets a new monk

From 19 October 2015, with the onset of cooler weather, the dilapidated drainage structure, a so-called monk, will be replaced.

The pond was drained in advance so that the pond, which is now largely empty, has dried out in accordance with the structural requirements in order to be able to carry out the foundation work. The total cost of the project is around 50,000 euros.

Similar to the Knappteich pond, the first step towards improving the water balance in the Ottoteich pond was the replacement of the dilapidated drainage structure, which was put out to tender in December 2014 and awarded to the company Massiv- und Industriebau GmbH, Amtsberg.

However, due to the difficulty of delivering the prefabricated monk on time, the construction work that had already been prepared had to be cancelled in spring 2015 and postponed until the autumn due to the start of the amphibian migration.
