On Sunday, 6 April, interested young people aged 14 to 26 are invited to the kick-off workshop for the planned 3rd OstVISION youth conference at the office of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, Hartmannstraße 5. Registration is now open at www.ostvision.de.
After the first meeting and getting to know each other, participants can decide whether they want to become part of the organising crew. Good snacks and music will be provided. Travelling expenses will be covered.
Young people aged between 14 and 26 who live in Chemnitz or the surrounding area have the opportunity to help organise the OstVISION youth conference. They can contribute ideas and opinions and develop their OstVISION in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 together with other young people. The youth conference is planned for around 80 young people and will take place in Chemnitz during the 2025 autumn holidays.
The topics and questions of the young people will take centre stage at the conference and ideas will become visible: How can eastern Germany become more attractive?
To prepare for the conference, an organising team of around ten people will be formed, which will meet up to five times in Chemnitz and jointly decide on the guests, schedule, topics and activities. For example, how and when other young people find out about OstVISION, what should happen at the conference, when music should be played and whether guests should be invited, or whether a documentary should be made about the conference or whether social media posts should be made.
In the organising team, the participants meet other committed young people from the region. In various workshops, they learn about topics such as project management and public relations. They can visualise their own and many other young opinions and perspectives and present the results to important political decision-makers.
The young people are supported in the organisation by the OstVISION youth conference project team and the coordinator for child and youth participation in the city of Chemnitz, Katrin Günther, who prepare the organisational meetings, manage the project budget and help with the organisation of the youth conference.
The OstVISION Youth Conference is a project of the German Children and Youth Foundation and is funded by the Free State of Saxony and the social lottery BildungsChancen gGmbH.
The conference is organised in cooperation with the City of Chemnitz and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH.
